I've seen it described as your tagline or slogan. I've heard people confuse it with the sales copy. Some people say it's your content plan (seriously), your story and more.

They're partially right, And messaging impacts all of those for sure.

Your Message is the promise your brand or movement is making

Messaging is comprehensive system to convey  your Message. Different elements that build an argument to make your promise desirable and believable. It let's people know why your work matters.

Marketing, copywriting, PR, sales, branding, etc... is not the messaging,

Those are how you deliver the messaging to the people you are called to serve, and ethically persuade them to work with you and your brand.
